TOP states that Daesung and IU look alike

Big Bang’s TOP recently angered some of IU’s uncle fans!

During an episode of “YG On Air”, which aired on May 6th, fans were able to find out how Big Bang is doing lately. Fans were able to see Big Bang preparing for their Japan Tour Concert, see their trainee training methods through Seungri, and also see their usual carefree and mischievous acts.

Also, during the broadcast, TOP looked at each of the member’s posters. After seeing Daesung’sposter, TOP asked G-Dragon, “Didn’t Daesung’s picture come out a bit like IU?”, stating that Daesung and IU look alike.

After hearing this netizens commented, “IU’s uncle fans are mad now” “I think I can see the resemblance” “I don’t know why, but it is funny”.

IU gets pummeled with interview questions

On May 5th, the reporters from SBS’s “One Night in TV Entertainment” visited IU during a cell phone launching event for a brief interview, asking the young star to give answers to a list of random questions.

When asked what her record was for the 100m sprint, she replied, “About 23 seconds. I’m not that athletic.” She was then given a rapidfire set of questions, “My favorite snack is cheese. I know how to cook kimchi fried rice.. and the subject I hate the most is math. I won’t be revealing my test score!”

When asked whether she’d go public if she had a boyfriend, she shyly replied, “I think I’d hide it.”

Her favorite song as of late is f(x)’s “Pinocchio.” While on the topic of music, IU was then asked to choose a girl group that she would join if she could. 

Immediately, she answered, “f(x)! My favorite song at the karaoke is ‘Pinocchio.’”

Finally concluding with the last question, IU was asked whether she wanted to get plastic surgery. ”My face,” she replied. “My nose is a bit low, so I’d like for it to be raised a bit. It’s not like I hate it, but isn’t it human nature to want to become prettier.”

19 K-pop stars confirmed for “2011 Dream Concert”

Get ready for another massive concert – Korea’s “2011 Dream Concert” has finally confirmed its artist line-up!
As reported earlier, the “2011 Dream Concert” will be opening for its 17th year on May 28th at the Seoul World Cup Stadium. Out of its 21 artists, the event has confirmed 19.
They are as follows:

2PM, F.T. Island, f(x), miss A, Kim Tae Woo, TVXQ, B2ST, Seo In Kook, SECRET, SISTAR, IU, After School, U-Kiss, Eru, G.NA, K.Will, T-ara , 4minute and Flower.

Discussions are still on-going with the remaining two K-pop acts regarding their participation.
Free entry tickets were given out on April 7th for the 25,000 member audience, and just a week before the official close date, all seats have already been filled.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism will also be working with the Korea Copyright Commission for a special “Copyright Protection Campaign” at the event.

Interview : T-ara’s Jiyeon “Music·Acting·Variety…Idol, responsibility has grown”

◆ The way idols are being viewed, issue vs. responsibility

Q: Singing, dancing, now including acting and variety, Jiyeon is a young girl who isn’t afraid of first challenges. Isn’t it also your first try at voice acting through ‘Gnomeo and Juliet’.

Jiyeon : Yes, that’s right. For just regular acting, I think about how I can make myself come out well on the screen. However, for dubbing, you have to give your all into your voice. I think that’s why I think I overreacted. (laughs) Although difficult, I found that putting feeling into your own voice was a job full of its charms. I was just concerned a lot over what would happen if my voice sounded lower than my partner’s, MBLAQ’s Lee Joon.

Q: From what we heard from your company, they seem to have said that ‘rather than the amount of practicing time, it’s Jiyeon’s quick learning ability’.

Jiyeon : I don’t think that’s it. (laughs) The result comes out just as much as I practiced.

Q: In the past, mostly comedians have done animation dubbing. But a lot of idol members have been beginning to come out as well, such as SNSD’s Taeyeon and Seohyun in ‘Super Bad’, f(x)’s Sulli in ‘Sammy’s Adventures’, Kara’s Goo Hara in ‘Alpha and Omega’ etc.

JIyeon : I think there is the effect for idol members that try dubbing to be able to make it become a big issue. However, as much attention they receive, whether they do well or not, idols have to take on that responsibility that comes with. The responsibility keeps getting bigger.

Q: It really is the ‘idol multiple ability’ generation. Is there a certain area you’re particularly interested in between music promotions and acting.

Jiyeon : Both have its charms to the point where I can’t possibly pick one. Singing and acting, I really like and find it enjoyable. It’s cruel to even make me pick one. Of course, I still worry. Since there is the pressure to have to do even greater.

◆ Expressionless cold doll? Unfair misunderstanding

Q: Do you have any idol members you’re close with.

Jiyeon : There’s Lee Joon. We met during ‘Jungle Fish 2’ and we met again this time for ‘Gnomeo and Juliet’ as lovers of the century. (laughs) We also picked each other as each other’s closest idol member on a variety program. To be honest, there aren’t many people I’m close with in the entertainment world. People say my first impression appears to be cold.

Q; But your doll-like looks look more lovely than cold.

Jiyeon : Others can mistake me for looking mad if I have no expression on. Because I’m extremely shy, I have to have met you a lot of times to be close enough to barely show you aegyo. (laughs) It took a long time to become close with Lee Joon too. Including him, he told me he saw me as a kid with a not-so-good personality at the beginning of our debut days. (laughs)

Q: Then how did you manage to take on the romantic acting for ‘Gnomeo and Juliet’ when you say you normally don’t have any aegyo.

Jiyeon : It was really hard. On top of that, my voice is the husky type so I received a lot of orders from the dubbing artist teachers to make my voice tone go higher.

Q: In the movie ‘Death Bell 2’, you played Saehee, in ‘Jungle Fish 2’ as Seoyool, etc. For your latest projects, you acted as somewhat gloomy characters. But you also received love from fans as the tomboy-ish young lady ‘Juliet’, ‘God of Study”s Hyunjung, and in the variety program ‘Heroes’, showing your bright sides. What kind of personality are you most comfortable with when it comes to acting.

Jiyeon : To be honest, I have strong emotions. I match well with cheerful acting when my cheerful self appears. But I also like showing cold sides as well. I think I go back and forth. (laughs)

◆My real Romeo, ‘married man’ Lee Chunhee

Q: In ‘Gnomeo and Juliet’ you fall in love at first sight with Lee Joon who is Gnomeo. We’re curious about the Jiyeon’s real ideal type.

Jiyeon : The real Romeo for me is a manly but cute guy. I like guys that also have the sense to show cute sides of themselves once in a while. Recently turned ‘married man’, Lee Chunhee oppa is closest to my ideal type. Even though I haven’t met him in person once yet. (laughs)

Q: We also asked Lee Joon next to you who his ideal type was and he answered with “a kind person”. Persistent with his answer, he gave a silly reply “I’ll just go with Jiyeon”, also answering that the prettiest girl group member was Jiyeon.

Jiyeon : I took care of oppa a lot. When filming ‘Jungle Fish 2’, I even let him borrow my gloves and I found out he just took them. (laughs)


At the compliment given to Jiyeon about the strong red mini-dress worn during the interview, she responded, ‘Usually I wear black colored clothes. I don’t think bright colored clothes suit me”, while giving a shy smile. Lee Joon, who was seated next to her joked “taking things off suits me well’, Jiyeon let out a big laugh, reverting back to a young girl, and not as the girl group member full of responsibility.

IU dresses up as a man for Homeplus CF

On May 2nd, a photo of singer IU dressed up as a man for a new Homeplus CF was uploaded onto an internet community board.

The rising star was captured posing cutely while wearing a bright blue sweater and a white dress shirt, appropriate for any man’s closet. She also pulled off the 2:8 divided hairstyle and a manly mustache. Thanks to her cute looks, many remarked that she did not look awkward while even dressed up as a man.

Netizens commented, “You look like Haha when you’re dressed up like a man”, and “If there’s a man like this, please introduce him to me“.

IU and Shin Bong Sun to guest on SBS’s “Running Man”

It has recently been rumored that singer IU and gagwoman Shin Bong Sun may be upcoming guest stars of SBS’s variety show program, “Running Man“.

The rumor was first spread on May 2nd through the popular micro-blogging site Twitter, where it was revealed that IU and Shin Bong Sun were currently filming for a show at Daegu Stadium.

These two stars already have experience working together for 10 months in SBS’s “Heroes”, and were also the topic of amusing discussions for their similar facial features.

This isn’t the only time that the guests of “Running Man” were subtly hinted at via Twitter. Pictures ofSNSD’s YoonA and Sunny at the scene of the filming had made its rounds prior to their appearance on the show a couple of weeks back, as well as actor Park Joong Hun accidentally revealing that he was on set of the show through a tweet message to his colleague.

Upon hearing the rumor of IU and Shin Bong Sun’s possible guest appearance, various netizens left hopeful comments such as, “This is what you call the magnitude of Twitter”, “This is a must-watch”, “This should be fun”, and “They look so much alike that I’ll probably get confused while watching the show.”
